Butsapasila Wanjing
The Incarnation Traces
10 August - 15 September 2024
Supples is pleased to present The Incarnation Traces, a solo exhibition by Butsapasila Wanjing (B.2000), on view from 10 August to 15 September 2024.
Butsapasila Wanjing explores the creation of collective memory through informal stories. His work draws on various forms, such as folk legends, historical fiction, mystical beliefs passed down orally, conspiracy theories shared on blogs, and his childhood memories of the Chiang Mai area.
Butsapasila's current work focuses on the traces left by the Thai state in its creation of historical memory spaces, particularly during the transition from the colonial era to the Cold War. This period marked a significant shift in perceptions of space and time, especially in the border areas of northern Thailand, where local histories were integrated into the central narrative.
